Tsakopoulos Library Galleria

Tsakopoulos Library Galleria is a wedding and event center located in the heart of downtown Sacramento California. The Galleria opened in 1992 as one of the top event locations in downtown Sacramento and surrounding area. This grand five story atrium designed ballroom is attached to the main public library in Sacramento. They host year-round event from weddings, dinners, dances, proms, senior balls, concerts and political events. They are located just across the street from city hall and many other downtown attractions.

Tsakopoulos Library Galleria does have one massive conference room for the getting ready part of your wedding day. The only thing is that it’s not divided up into two sections so only half of your wedding party can get ready in the conference. This room is more like a staging area before the start of your ceremony versus a real bridal suite. With the Galleria being located right in the middle of downtown Sacramento you’ll have lots of hotel options to pick from to host the getting ready part of your day at. Just across the street is the Citizen Hotel and within a two block radius is the Sheraton Grand and Hyatt Regency. Needless to say that even though there’s no real getting ready area at the Galleria you’ll have plenty of options close by for the getting ready part of your day.

Tsakopoulos Library Galleria has two different ceremony locations or levels inside this massive 5,400 square foot ballroom for you to get married at. The first wedding ceremony location is located on the 1st floor of the ballroom and is situated right under neath the massive 5 story window facade that offers you views of the surrounding city. Some couples chose to rent a raised platform or stage to recite their vows on in front of all their close friends and family members at this location. This 1st floor spot is the most popular ceremony site and can host the most amount of guest too. The second ceremony location is located on the 2nd floor balcony next the the giant windows. This 2nd floor location will give you great views of the surrounding city buildings and architecture. The only true downside to this second ceremony location is that the guest capacity for your ceremony viewing is much smaller than 1st floor option. Though I have see couples get married on the 2nd floor balcony while having most all of their guests seated below on the 1st floor at their reception tables. This setup can work, but seems like the least intimate option of hosting a wedding ceremony with your close friends and family members. Since all events have to be hosted indoors, weddings can take place year around here.

When your ceremony is over and you’re having bridal party and immediate family pictures taken your guest will be able to enjoy cocktail hour on the second floor balcony area of the Tsakopoulos Galleria. This second floor balcony area is a such a fun and unique location for your guest to enjoy drinks, hors d’oeuvres and a catch up with old friends and family members. You have a birds eye view of the galleria from the second floor and the reception tables below you. You’re also able to walk over and look out the massive windows with surrounding views of the downtown city scape. Needless to say the second floor cocktail hour location is one of the coolest in the greater Sacramento area.

When the two of you are finished with all your formal group portraits you’ll be able to walk around the grounds at Tsakopoulos Library Galleria with your wedding photographer for your couples portrait session. The first and closest spot for portraits to take place at is just outside in their fenced off outdoor courtyard area. This courtyard is private from the nearby sidewalk and you’ll have the amazing old architecture of the building as your backdrop for your pictures. This area can also be used from family and bridal party portraits if you don’t want to use the inside ceremony location. The second and most popular portrait location is the outside entrance into the galleria. There’s a set of stairs that lead up to the front doors which has the beautiful old world style of architecture on this part of the library building. This old part of the building makes a perfect romantic backdrop for couples portraits. If you’re looking for that old city scape style of a backdrop than this is the spot. Just across the street is the old city hall building which is another breathtaking location for your portraits to be taken at and around. There are also a couple other locations within a city block of the galleria and definitely with the short walk. Downtown Sacramento is such a fun place to explore during a photo walk with it’s ever changing light and scenery.

Reception events and dinner services take place on the first floor of the Tsakopoulos Library Galleria. This huge reception space can host up to 250 seated guest for dinner service and reception events. The galleria does not have an in house catering staff, so you’ll have to hire your own food service and catering staff for your event. The galleria will have a list of approved caters for you to pick from. The galleria is such classy location for a wedding reception with it’s grand 5 story window facade and columns. This event space is like no other in the greater Sacramento area. Once all your formal reception events are finished for the evening you’ll be able to share your first dance with your loved one out on the dance floor in front of all your family and friends to see. Even with all those seated guests you’ll still have plenty of space for your special dances and open dance party to take place at. One of the other huge bonus of hosting your wedding event at Tsakopoulos is the close proximity to many downtown hotels for your guests to stay at. With that being said guests don’t have to drive away tipsy since there are so many hotels within walking distance of the galleria.

If you’re looking for an elegant venue to host your wedding at in the downtown area of Sacramento you should definitely put Tsakopoulos Library Galleria on your list of top venues to take a site visit at. You’ll be happy that you did when you finally see this location with your own eyes. Photos of the galleria never due it justice with the grand magnitude of of how huge and stunning this venue is in real life.
